Arbex Holding Corporation

What We Do

Arbex Holding Corporation is a family-owned and operated real estate holding company located in Richmond, British Columbia. Established in 1981, we have a portfolio of over $45 million in residential, retail, industrial and commercial properties. We focus on increasing cash flow, maximizing the long-term value of our properties and acquiring new properties with cash flow potential. Our goal? To consistently achieve high returns and strategic growth for our shareholders.

Arbex Capital Corporation is a specialized real estate investment company, focused on real estate loans secured by mortgages and direct investment in real estate. Our lending program is primarily based on interest-only loans with a term of one year – extendible for an additional year at the lender’s option – with a principal focus on bridge loans of approximately $100,000 to $2 million. The majority of Arbex loans pay monthly interest at a rate of 6% – 9%. With a proven track record of success, we take pride in our ability to complete mortgage investment transactions quickly, efficiently and on mutually beneficial terms.

We have the resources to take the initiative, act quickly,
seize opportunities and change course if need be.

Why We Do It

As a family-owned business, we have a flexible, well-experienced team that is committed to integrity, excellence and growth.

Everything we do is guided by three simple values:

We are ethical and honest in everything we do. We do what we say we are going to do, we do it on time, and we do it without shortcuts.

By communicating openly, our team allows us to identify potential investments, and quickly and efficiently conduct our due diligence.

We take initiative, embrace change, have fun and celebrate our successes. We have the resources to take the initiative, act quickly, seize opportunities and change course if need be.

We have a long-standing commitment to our communities, and are strong supporters of numerous charitable organizations, including the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Vancouver, the BC Cancer Agency, Richmond Hospital Foundation and the Vancouver Academy of Music.

Our History

Back in 1913, our grandfather Abe James, along with a partner, purchased 12 damaged Model T’s that had been rejected by a Ford dealership in Vancouver. They cleaned up the cars and started Vancouver’s first auto rental company, located on Granville Street. When the cars became too dilapidated to run, they began selling parts. The location eventually grew into Vancouver’s first auto wrecking business – Vancouver Auto Wrecking.

His son Ralph began working for Abe in the 1930s, and when Abe retired in 1961, Ralph bought the storage yard. Following his father’s entrepreneurial spirit Ralph started his own business, Ralph’s Auto Supply B.C. Ltd., at 330 East 2nd Avenue.

For the next 50 years, Ralph’s expanded its operations to five auto recycling businesses that grew to become fixtures in the community: A-Scott Discount, Scott Road Japanese, Ralph’s on Mitchell, Ralphs Discount and Empire Abbotsford Recycled Auto & Truck Parts. Ralph’s went on to become BC’s largest auto recycler, and the largest volume purchaser of insurance salvage in the business.

Over the years, Ralph strategically purchased a number of properties, and in 1981, he formed Arbex Holding Corporation. Thanks to Ralph’s vision and dedication, Arbex has expanded over the years to include $45 million in real estate and over 900,000 square feet of property. The company is now run by his two daughters, Arlene and Nancy, along with his son Neil. In a testament to the company’s dedication and care, Arbex’s CEO, Moira Lutar, has been working with Ralph’s for 40 years.

At Arbex, we remain inspired by our father’s leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to communities. As a service-oriented company, we strive on building long-term relationships with our tenants, incorporating integrity and excellence into everything we do.
